| It is always exciting to design a "Bed & Breakfast" Casita for a client. As an Interior Designer, it is satisfying to be able to renovate and re-design an old (sometimes Historic) adobe structure, paying close attention to keeping or returning the building to it's original glory, yet with updated utilities and a decor that represents Santa Fe today. Designing for the out-of-town guest is very different than designing for a resident Santafean. At Allyx B. Interior Design, we enjoy working in both catagories. Below, view two of our "Bed & Breakfast" designs. |
| Casita de Osso - a complete renovation of an old dirt floor root cellar... |
| Welcome to "Casita de Osso." This Hopi Kachina is by a member of the Quannin Family and is not signed, as is usual practice for the Hopi. |
| This gas fire place is custom designed to have the appearance of a Kiva, but it has the convenience of a thermostat. |
| This wonderful antique Chest of Drawers, from Romania, gives the guest plenty of extra storage, in addition to the walk-in closet with hanging space and storage cubbies. The accent lamp that we designed was made from an antique wheel "hub" and crowned with a whip-stitched hide shade. |
| Originally, this space was an old dirt floor, root cellar with the celing at only five feet high. The chocolate-colored leather sofa, hair-on-hide "rug" and Navajo horse blanket nestled by the 'Kiva' all add to the Santa Fe style. On the left of the photo, notice the translucent panel that is part of the "movable wall" system used to divide the main Living Area from the Bed Room. |
| Our high-end guest Casita has a gormet quality Kitchen, which includes a Wolf Range. Correct use of colors and floor planning make this almost completely under-ground dwelling have a 'sunny' disposition! |
| Dispite the lack of square footage, due to the superb interior design, this luxury retreat has a spacious and welcoming impression. Note the use of 'Suspended Seating,' which helps to maintain a 'clean' feel in the space. |
| The denim bed covering gives the Bed Room a casual feel. Just out of sight on the right is a very vogue "movable wall" system that has translucent panels to slide into place for privacy in the Bed Room area. |
| An intriguing view into the 'old fashioned' Bath Room... |
| The Bath has a wall faucet and the sink is set into a Bachelor's Chest to keep the feel of antiquity. |
| An antique-look, claw foot, porcelain on cast iron, tub with a floor mount tub fill and hand shower is the main attraction. The antique photograph portraits are from Mexico, and they were quite a find, help to set the tone. Notice the glass block on the right... it is a custom built all glass and glass block shower. |

Next Project selected for our Portfolio: Casita de Elena
| Welcome to Casita Elena! This is a spectacular Santa Fe Retreat that has many amenities. Comfortable leather and denim seating, along with fresh wine glasses, left on a tray by the Kiva, are perfect enticements for the out-of-town guests. |
| This is a galley style Kitchen that seats four comfortably. Also, it has plenty of granite counter space to be able to cook and present gormet meals. |
| This image shows the custom built entertainment cabinet that also disguises the heating system for the room. |
| Here is another view of the main living space. Even in a smaller space, like this project, it is possible to have three separate seating areas, as well as a well-equipt Kitchen that is shown in the image above. |
| This Bed Room really makes you feel like you have gone on vacation! Notice the tiny lights embeded in the drapery fabric "head board," the exotic patterned Egyptian Cotton bed linens and the Greek Flokati bed side rugs. |
| The Bath is very inviting with it's refinished, antique claw foot tub, custom fabric shower drapery, and rich red accents. |
